Spooky March! This month, we continue our “women of horror” theme with witches, vampires, and our most popular read yet.
Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women & Witchcraft is a collection of short stories about women and girls, witchcraft and magic, and power, love, hope.
It’s a brilliant collection and the variety in stories is huge. Some are set now, some in the past, and some might not even be here at all. Themes of friendship, sisterhood, finding yourself, confidence, and taking charge of your destiny (and magic). Plus, skateboarding and astrology!
Interview with the Vampire is a hands-down horror classic. Was it the beginning of the modern vampire? I’m not sure, I’ve only seen the movie! But I’m super excited to read the book.
This movie was the first to get me thinking about the perks of being a vampire and my thesis that vampirism is one of the only real ways to accrue personal wealth. Of course, with it comes angst, loneliness, and perhaps, psychosis. We’ll see how my opinion changes, or doesn’t, as we get into it.
