Ep 15 is here! It isn’t all zeros and ones: “All the Birds in the Sky” by Charlie Jane Anders

Are you looking for a weird, magical, near-future, scifi-ish story about friendship? (Yes. The answer is yes.)

Charlie Jane Anders’ “All the Birds in the Sky” is a genre mashup with teen witches, secret witch schools, the singularity, sentient artificial intelligence, and assassins! This book has it all.

And you may think to yourself “There’s no way all this weird shit works together” – but it totally does! Because the core of the story is not robots or rockets or talking birds or becoming a witch. It’s about friendship and connection. Awwwww. And also assassins.

If you’ve considered this one and passed it up, or never even heard of it, read it and then our episode a listen. We try to avoid spoilers and major plot points in our discussion, so you can listen either way, but you should really read the book. It came out in 2016 and is probably available at your local library!

Listen to it wherever you listen to podcasts: Apple, Google, iHeartRadio, Overcast, or grab the MP3!

(Oh also, this is our 15th episode! Woohoo!)
